mittelalterlichen Miserikordie Chorgestühl. středověké miserikordie. miséricordes médiéval. middeleeuwse misericords. Misericordia misericordias. Misericordia medievale

The two back rows of stalls with misericords on either side of the choir are dated c. 1682 and are said to have been erected by Roger Davis, citizen and joyner of London, who took down all the 13th Century misericords and replaced them with his own work. Later except for those on the two back rows, all the stalls were removed again by Sir George Gilbert Scott and replaced by his own design of Victorian Gothick. Some of the designs of Davis’s misericords have a medieval appearance, and he may well have copied these from the seats he replaced.
